What is halwa?

Haw is another name for halwa. It's not the same in India as it is in the Middle East. I'm making these chocolate cookie bars with Arabic halwa. It comes in tubs and can be bought at grocery stores that sell Middle Eastern food. It can also be made at home by many people. It's usually sweet and made with tahini. It can be crumbled and used in a lot of different meals and snacks. There are different recipes for Indian halwa that use different amounts of ghee, flour, and sugar.

There needs to be vanilla, brown butter, olive oil, flour, corn flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips to make the cookie dough. You can make the recipe vegan by using olive oil or any other plant-based butter instead of butter. Do not use gluten in this recipe. Instead, use a gluten free flour mix like Bob's Red Mill. Sometimes I put chunks in the filling and chips in the cookie dough, but you can use chips all the way through. I love the fudgy texture that chunks give.
